A few years ago, a friend of mine lost her son-in-law due to suicide due to extreme depression over the loss of his wife to cancer. And then, shortly later, another friend shared with me that a friend of hers just lost her 32 year old son to suicide. Although I didn’t know either one of these young men personally, every time I hear of someone who has committed suicide….my heart truly breaks!
A few years ago, a friend shared how her two kids were in a summer day camp and came home one day extremely dehydrated, to the point they needed to be brought to an ER. When the doctor asked what the kids had been doing and drinking, she told him of their activities, and that they had been drinking water and one of those common rehydration/electrolyte drinks found in stores.
I thought I’d share a few thoughts on the effect too much candy has on a child. Most people look as far as “oh it’s just making my child hyper for a while”, but I’m here to tell you that when your child (or an adult) gets too much candy, or other high sugar foods and/or drinks on a regular basis, there’s much more happening than hyperactivity!
Years ago a friend called me one day and asked if I had seen her daughter (she was about 13 at the time). I said no, and she shared that her daughter had run away from home a few hours ago.
A quality protein is essential for every cell in your body, for optimal health and prevention of disease. Plus, if your body is healing from anything…. whether it be surgery, a broken bone, stitches, etc., the very best thing you can do for yourself is up your intake of a quality protein….2-3 a day is known to really speed up the healing process! But a TRULY quality & safe protein supplement can be hard to find.
A few years ago I attended a health & wellness seminar in which one of the speakers, who was a registered nurse, shared some news regarding C-Section babies not getting enough good bacterial flora from their mother, due to not going through the birth canal. She continued to explain how this lack of bacterial flora is being linked to a number of health issues such as allergies, asthma, eczema, obesity, celiac disease and food allergies. And she also mentioned that some medical facilities are looking into giving newborn C-section babies a probiotic after birth, to help bring up the levels of good bacteria in their gut.
Our children today are at such a disadvantage from those 100 years ago. I’m not talking about material things, I’m talking about something much more important than that…..the opportunity to grow up truly healthy. One hundred years ago, people ate food literally for nourishment, and the food that was available actually DID provide nourishment. Today, this lack of available nutrients coupled with eating so many processed foods which in turn, deplete you of even more nutrients, is causing major health issues even in our children. Things that use to be considered adult diseases are now increasing amongst our children. And believe it or not, this lack of nutrients also has a major effect on our children’s demeanor and behavior, i.e. how happy they are, how they handle a stressful situation, how much patience they have, how well they are in control of their emotions, etc. I’ve seen first hand what a positive impact a well-nourished body can have on a child. My focus is on children, because for so many years, they are truly at the mercy of their parents.
What does all this have to do with my new mission, “Helping Kids Find Their Happy Face”? I’ve seen what a negative impact this lack of nutrients has had on our children. My daughter said it to me once when she was in middle school….”I don’t know what’s wrong with the kids in school, Mom, all someone has to do is accidentally bump into someone else and they want to start a fight!” How ridiculous is that…that our children are so on edge and SO INTOLERANT of a simple accident of bumping into someone! And it gets even worse during their pre-teen and teen years, when their hormones are all out of whack! Our own family’s experience with and without supplementation is outlined in an older blog. Click HERE to read it! If you haven’t already read it, I wish you would, it would help explain why I’m so passionate about helping families realize what a difference quality, proven supplementation can make in their child’s physical and mental health.
I’m happy to discuss this in a personal one-to-one with you, either in person or if you don’t live in the the Colorado Springs, CO area, over the phone. Through a discussion of what’s happening in your family, we can figure out if there’s anything I offer which might help you. It would give me immense pleasure to help YOU “help your kid find their happy face!” Shaklee has a 100% money back guarantee on their products, so if after meeting with me, you decide to give one or two products a try (depending on the age of your child), and a month or two later if you feel like they didn’t make a difference in your child’s mood and/or behavior, then you can simply get your money back…yes, even on an empty bottle! So, why not consider giving it a try….you’ve got nothing to lose, yet so much happiness to gain!!
Every kid deserves a happy face…..so, together, let’s help your child find theirs!!!

This post is dedicated to my grandson, Trevan, who turned 8 in June of 2017, as it was he that inspired me to create this gratitude game, called “The Thank You Game”. My husband and I, by nature, have always been optimistic people, and we feel like we passed this way of life on to our two wonderful children. It has always lead to many good things in our life and for that we are truly blessed and grateful. But in the past few years I have learned more about how to nurture this feeling and one of many things that I have found to be absolutely imperative for bringing more good into your life is to be consciously grateful for things which you already have.
I was a stutterer….. but I now have it completely under control!!
It started when I was a young child and like most stutterers, I have no idea why or how it started. But the important thing is that I’ve figured out how to keep it under control! Before I begin my story, let me share some advise to those of you who have a child, relative or close friend who stutters. Don’t bother telling he or she to “slow down” or “think before you speak”, because I’m here to tell you ….. it has absolutely no bearing on how the words will flow.
Many of us have stayed away from “Green” cleaning products because they’re expensive, and many of them are just not effective! If you’re one of those people, I know exactly how you feel, I felt that way too….but what I found in Shaklee’s green cleaners, completely changed our family’s life!! Not only do they WORK, they SAVE US A LOT OF MONEY!!
